Lady Jenna Qin returns to the capital after three years of exile in a temple, burdened with a notorious name. Seemingly arrogant and unruly—publicly striking a prince and forcing a marriage to Julian Pei—she is in fact calculating and strategic. Using defiance as her disguise, she investigates the truth behind her poisoning and seeks medicine for her grandmother, while hiding the secret that she once went to war for the nation and captured the enemy prince. As a blade in the Emperor’s hand, she founds the Thousand-Wing Guard, takes her rival Evelyn Cui as deputy, and manipulates rival princes and powerful clans, dismantling the forces that threaten imperial rule. In the treacherous court, the “notorious lady” rises to become a power behind the throne.
