Lily May, a junior mystic born with otherworldly powers, embarks on a journey beyond the mountains to find her family and extend her life. Along the way, she crosses paths with Otto Ford, an old man on the brink of despair, ready to end his life after his greedy family strips him of his fortune. Once the wealthiest man in Coast City, Otto fell into ruin after hastily marrying his housekeeper, Jane Gill, following the death of his wife, Vera Rose, twenty years ago.
