The First-Rank Noble Lady Shen Zhinian was assassinated by Shen Nanqiao, a deposed concubine in the cold palace (her elder sister from the same father but different mother), at a royal banquet. Both of them were reborn at the time when the Lu family sent a marriage proposal before their respective marriages. Shen Nanqiao snatched the marriage proposal, insisting on marrying Lu Jianglin, who would become the future prime minister in her previous life, and "gave" the opportunity to enter the palace for the imperial harem selection to her younger sister of concubine birth, Shen Zhinian.
