Doctor Song Nanqiao dies and becomes a prime minister's wife—the original killed herself over his concubine. She exposes schemes, saves a prince, adopts a Di prince, and outsmarts villains. The prime minister, prince, and Di king pursue her, but she chooses independence and self-fulfillment.
