To save Edmund Shaw—the heir of Marquess Manor—Sophia Shaw's blood is drawn by her grandmother, who harbors a deep bias against her. Cast out from her home, Sophia is fortunately rescued by Lucas Steele, a farmer and fellow Chillborn, who renames her "Wendy Steele." Fourteen years later, Wendy returns to Marquess Manor as a maid, while her mother continues to search for her long-lost daughter, unaware that Wendy is the very girl she's been seeking.
